Wet Felting
Wet felting is a process that predates spinning and weaving as fabric creation for humans. The simple act of using hot water and agitation can create beautiful functional fabrics and even 3d objects. This is due to the tiny scales of certain animal hairs like wool opening up in hot water and latching onto each other creating a dense felt. This process can be applied to woven textiles as well, which is called fulling, strengthening the woven textile. There are a variety of methods and types of felting that create different types of fabrics and objects. Carolyn will educate us and lead us through a demonstration of this versatile fiber art.
